I expect there will be quite a few new faces in your office this time next year. Hopefully that is a result of long-awaited business growth. There will also likely be some faces missing – taken away by the post-COVID jobs boom.
Since the emergence of COVID, job seekers have gone quiet. Most people were just grateful to have job or JobKeeper. This sentiment has carried right through. Even as the market has improved and opportunities become more plentiful, job seekers are still MIA, for now.
There are many reasons why job seekers are not currently active. Take your pick – online interviews, starting a new job remotely and COVID fatigue. Primarily, however, it comes down to ‘it will be easier in the New Year.’
We are just about to see a strong job market collide with a flood of freshly holidayed and re-energised job seekers.
This represents a great opportunity for growth but before you head to market, be sure to secure your existing talent.
