The Company

Kids Under Cover are committed to preventing youth homelessness by providing studio accommodation in family backyards and education scholarships. By making space for living, they make space for a brighter future. They build one or two bedroom studios (with bathroom) in the backyards of homes to assist carers by providing more room to accommodate young people in their care. Studios provide safe and secure accommodation, gives additional room for the family and, coupled with a scholarship, young people are given the skills to become independent adults. Once the studio is no longer required, it is relocated to accommodate another young person in need. Ensuring that the studio accommodation provided is maintained to the highest possible standards and having all employees of Kids Under Cover acting as ambassadors for the business is critical to its ongoing success.

The Role

Kid Under Cover wish to employ a Maintenance Technician to be auditing and providing general maintenance of studios located all over Victoria. You will be responsible for attending sites to conduct studio audits, performing general repairs, ordering and purchasing inventory, and booking inspection dates and times with clients. Arranging for specialist trades as required will be highly desirable but not essential. Your commitment to delivering the best possible outcomes and your strong interpersonal skills with a drive and passion to support vulnerable people will set you up for success. You be reporting to the Asset Manager and key stakeholders include the CEO, Deputy CEO, Head of Programs, Asset Manager, KUC clients and suppliers.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in a general maintenance role having undertaken activities including patching and painting, and other general maintenance.
  • Trade qualifications are desirable but not essential
  • Clear communication and active listening skills
  • Computer literacy experience completing paperwork using an iPad and Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience working in the Not for Profit sector with residential assets is highly desirable though not essential.
  • Working with children and police check will be required.
