Development Manager – Apartments & Mixed Use

The Company

Our client is a leading privately owned Property Developer with projects ranging from bespoke Apartments with tailored to the owner occupier market or larger scale mixed use Residential projects with retail or commercial. They are uncompromising on their commitment to delivering industry leading projects and only partner with the most revered consultants in the industry.

The Role

A restructure of their team has brought about a need for a Development Manager to join their team. Although you will technically report into a Senior Development Manager, the flat management structure of the business means that you will be very autonomous in your role.

As part of the wider company, you will work with a tight-knit team where you will have real ownership and accountability over projects. This role will suit a Development Manager who likes to be hands on, is forward thinking and is a self-starter.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Development and Build teams to ensure project objectives are always being managed and achieved.
  • Manage consultant teams throughout the design, planning approval, and delivery phases on multiple stages.
  • Liaison with and management of council and authorities to ensure planning submissions are approved.
  • Manage and maintain feasibilities, budgets and schedules on assigned stages.
  • Work on the delivery of documentation for tender purposes ensuring consultants are carefully managed to deliver appropriate outcomes.
  • Oversight of the cost management and delivery process including both internal and external Project Managers.
  • Ensure that all interfaces between stakeholders are carefully managed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years Development Management experience, having previously worked on built form projects, preferably (but not necessarily) with a private residential developer
  • A Construction/delivery experience background is highly valued for this role
  • Tertiary qualification in Property or Construction Management
  • Strong financial acumen. Previously managed feasibilities and reporting
  • Strong commercial acumen. Understand the time cost of money and exposure to contract risks
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal
