About:

Our client is thriving, and dynamic consultancy operating within the Engineering and Project Management consulting sector. Due to growth they are looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to augment the team.

The role:

The purpose of this role will be to provide BCA, compliance and certification advice on a variety of building projects. We are seeking a highly professional Surveyor with a technical or engineering background for this this new role. The suitable applicant will have experience of undertaking detailed surveys of national property portfolios with strong understanding of construction methods, value engineering and MEP services. You will be technically astute, with strong client facing skills and an in-depth knowledge of regulatory matters and the authorities Nationally.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualification (Building Surveying);
  • Accredited to a recognised organisation (e.g. MRICS);
  • A solid understanding of the National Construction Code, relevant Australian Standards and legislative requirements;
  • A sound knowledge of commercial property being able to carry out detailed assessments;
  • An ability to support our clients with their asset acquisitions and disposals negotiations;
  • First class stakeholder engagement skills. Comfortable at liaising and giving presentation to owners, facilities managements, consultants and user groups;
  • Strong report writing skills being able to present and articulate a broad range of issues and technical advice

Duties:

  • Technical due dilligence work
  • Reviewing property portfolios and being able to make recommendations at a strategic level;
  • Attending client meetings and being able to present and articulate technical reports;
  • Undertaking detailed inspections of a range of properties and services;
  • Undertake BCA assessments;
  • Identify and report on material defects and non-compliances;
  • Undertaking technical due diligence work;
  • Develop Permit Applications and advise on optimum certification pathways as applicable in each state;
  • Interstate travel will be required and a flexible approach to working hours;
  • Assist with the preparation of fee proposals;
  • Transition projects from sales to execution;
  • Conduct peer reviews and QA checks;
  • Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties including clients and third-party consultants
