Assistant Development Manager – Commercial & Industrial

  • Industrial, Business Parks, Commercial & Mixed Use projects
  • Privately owned Property Developer with inner city location
  • Potential to move into DM role within 6-12 months

The Company

A privately owned Australian Developer with decades of experience in delivering projects in Melbourne. Due to a strong pipeline of projects and 2 new acquisitions, this role has been initiated to support the current Development Manager with delivering current projects and building the pipeline. You may get future exposure to Residential projects but the current strategic focus is on Commercial & Industrial development including Mixed Use projects and Town Centres.

The Role

This is a truly end to end Assistant Development Manager role where you will have involvement on an increasing basis across the full development life cycle including Acquisitions. It is likely that you will have responsibility across 2-3 projects at various stages of the life cycle.

Typical duties may include feasibilities with Estate Master, highest and best use analysis, due diligence, market research, financial management including budgets and forecasts and project funding and financing, masterplanning, development approvals, town planning applications, design, internal and external stakeholder management, Pre-Leasing Activities including AFL’s, monthly project reporting including PCG’s, appointing and managing consultants, managing external builders under a D&C contract, delivery and program management etc.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years in an Assistant Development Manager role
  • *Experience and proficiency in Estate Master is an essential requirement *
  • Relevant tertiary degree in Property, Construction, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience in a non-residential asset class is preferable ie. Industrial, Commercial or Retail
  • Demonstrated understanding of Commercial, Industrial, Retail Asset classes
  • Self-starter who is proactive with a positive outlook
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage own workload and manage multiple tasks at one time
  • Confidence to manage and influence people and strong internal and external stakeholder management
